I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for robots. Whether it be droids in Star Wars or tin clockwork toys there is a fascination in them. Some of my favourite books are Asimov’s robot series. So imagine my pleasure when I came across artist Toby Atticus Fraley and his robot sculptures created from found objects.

His robot creations are stunning objects, each unique and evocative of a bygone era. They are built primarily from vintage found objects purchased from eBay auctions, yard sales, estate sales and the like. Each piece stands approximately 36 to 48 inches tall and all are in some way wired as room accent lights. Most of the robots shown on his site are now sold to private owners, and he does take commissions for themed works.

Sculptures such as these don’t come cheaply though, they’re a bit out of my price range with prices ranging from $1200 to $1800.
